​Eligibility

• Open to students aged 5–19 years

• Entrants must live in East Franklin, Auckland

• Entries will be grouped by age:

  • 5–7 years

  • 8–11 years

  • 12–15 years

  • 16–19 years

2. Entry Requirements

• Artwork must reflect the theme: “What does Matariki mean to you?”

• All work must be original and created by the entrant only

• One entry per person 

• Accepted formats: 2D and no more than 2cm deep. Must be able to hang artwork.

• Maximum size: A3

3. Submission Details

• Entries must be received by: 8th July 2026

• Artwork to be dropped off to Te Puru Community Centre during opening hours, Monday 6th July and Wednesday 8th July 2026.

• Include with each entry:

  • Student’s name and age

  • Parent/guardian name and contact details, if under 18 years

4. Judging & Prizes

• Entries will be judged on creativity, effort, and interpretation of the theme

• Judges’ decisions are final

• Winners will be notified via parent/guardian contact details

• Prizes: 1st place $150, 2nd place $100, 3rd place $50 in each of the four age categories.  Additional Public Choice Award $150 and Judges Special Award - 6 of $50.

5. Exhibition & Use of Artwork

• Selected artworks may be displayed publicly (e.g. exhibition, website, social media)

• By entering, you give permission for the Pohutukawa Coast Arts Hub to:

  • Photograph or scan the artwork

  • Share images for promotion and community purposes

• The artist’s first name and age may be used when displaying work

6. Return of Artwork

• by Thursday 16th July

• Artwork can be collected from: Te Puru Community Centre, during opening hours

• Uncollected artwork after this date may not be retained

7. Parent/Guardian Consent

• All entrants under 18 must have parent/guardian permission

• By submitting this entry, the parent/guardian confirms:

  • The information provided is correct

  • They agree to these Terms & Conditions

  • They give permission for the child to participate

8. Privacy

• Personal information will only be used for:

  • Managing the competition

  • Contacting winners

• Details will not be shared with third parties

9. General

• The organisers reserve the right to:

  • Refuse entries that do not meet the criteria

  • Make changes if necessary
