Introduction to Flax Weaving - 1st February 2025
Tutor Sharon Pearce will teach you how to weave a flax flower. Sharon observes Māori tikanga (protocols) and teaches students how to harvest and prepare Harakeke (Flax) for weaving.

About
Join our flax weaving workshop with Sharon Pearce and learn how to weave flax flowers.
Sharon began her weaving journey firstly studying under the tutelage of Verenoa Hetet (Master Weaver) for three years, and then graduated from Te Wananga o Aotearoa level 4 Raranga (weaving).
Sharon observes Maori tikanga (protocols) and teaches students how to harvest and prepare Harakeke (Flax) for weaving.
This is an introductory course, perfect for beginners, with more complex courses to come in the future. This course will be the prerequisite for the future courses.
All materials included.
